Celestiale

A precise point on the celestial sphere in July. Just as it is seen as if it were under a microscope, focused by vigilant and attentive eyes, so magnified that it appears digitized. A frame, a frame of the Universe where your eyes can stop. Then I'm sure, not for everyone, many questions emerge, questions that will remain unanswered of something that escapes our current knowledge. Celestial.

Franco Baldazzi was born in Florence in 1969. Today he lives in the province of Sondrio, a city where he conducts an intense artistic and exhibition activity. After finishing school, he abandoned his painting practice for a few years. From a very young age, he accompanied his passion for art with a parallel working life, which often entailed significant setbacks in his creative path. Periods of fervent production, alternating with profound moments of reflection, outline the stages of a pictorial practice that absorbs and intertwines the emotional life of the Tuscan. Constantly open to new forms of inspiration, he frequents the studio of the painter Mari Carmen Mur, thanks to which he opens up to an increasingly personal style, not attributable to schools or movements. The birth of his three children, the discovery of a new role, led Baldazzi to reapproach painting with a new spirit. The recovery is a bit difficult to the point of interrupting the birth of a "black period", as he himself states, during which he refines his technique, opening up to a "dark" style. It is a short interlude, which nevertheless gives life to agitated paintings, confused and swirling compositions, expressions of uneasiness and restlessness. A creative and multifaceted artist, he expresses himself with strong and contrasting colours, using phosphorescent enamels and acrylics. His particular creative streak pushes him to use heterogeneous everyday tools as pictorial supports: plywood, fabrics, polymers, plaster. His latest creations have as their subject human figuration and landscapes played on anti-naturalistic colors and essential representations. Behind this group of works lies a search for knowledge of the mystery of life and ultimately of the most impalpable and mysterious strings of the human soul. The brush responds only to the language of the soul, translating an aesthetic research in which art becomes a mirror of the spirit into lines and shapes with vibrant textures. The artist manages, through painting, to give a soul to his emotional perceptions, to make his fears and his intimate dreamlike visions tangible. The genesis of the work thus becomes a cathartic process of liberation and purification of one's moods. The same defines the extent of his poetics thus: Once I begin a work my spirit, guided and protected by universal intelligence whatever it may be, dances with happiness because I am finally on the path to getting rid of lies. What I am not dissolves, what I am comes to light. My life, my story, my art between your fingers. This is how our production is described: an analytical, schematic and unpredictable research at the same time, where the color becomes full-bodied and shows itself in bright colours. In search of absolute truth aimed at suggesting further space-time dimensions

The paintings of Franco Baldazzi - THE King of Hearts stand out for their stylistic and formal uniqueness, an artist who represents on canvas his own intimate feelings in relation to the last difficult years that humanity has experienced; in the works of the "Ottanta Paura" series we can notice an evolution in which the shapes and paths suggested by the materiality of the enamel are transformed into paths of rebirth and liberation, where key elements insinuate themselves between shape and color to arrive at the representation of the explosion of final joy. (from Critica….mind by Luca Franzil) Franco Baldazzi's art is instinctual and freely follows the gesture led by that profound feeling that the artist calls "gift". The gift of feeling allows the Tuscan artist to give life to compositions as if created from nothing, driven only by an internal flow which is energy, emotion, a unique and unrepeatable sensation which is linked to the instant, always intense and always different. Lines, vortices, wavy shapes often intertwined in networks or repeated as modular signs intertwine on the surface without responding to schematisms, logic or preconceived orders. The works are variously dressed in the abstract and in a strong, bright, contrasting colour, touching on figurative points and immersing themselves in the conceptual, to make visible and concrete what is impalpable and incorporeal. The sublimating matter of the soul thus seeks its forms by responding to the different impulses. Impulses not always revealed in the act of creation itself, which is spontaneous and irrational in "Eighty Fear", for example the emotional vibrations that gave rise to the composition were revealed in the artist's mind a posteriori. They are probably different vibrations, because they belong to different creative moments, which in a certain way gave a result far from the one initially imagined. The feeling felt at the end, after an unusual fascination that attracted the artist to the center of the representation, is fear. The image is an immense clear vortex on a bright yellow background, within whose "banks" pitch-black acrylic flows, sliding, thickening, overflowing until it also contaminates the outside. The gaze seems to adapt to the image, retracing the vortex to the center and it is almost scary. Perhaps the center is the pinnacle of existence? The natural epilogue of the circular path of life that is completed in death? The work is an invitation to reflection. (from art notes Icon Art Mgazine)
