The Lady of the Bubbles

The Lady of the Bubbles

The Lady of the Bubbles

The lady of the bubbles is a mysterious figure, the mask on her face veils her identity.

A distant memory takes us back to times told by history or fairy tales; she is a richly dressed courtesan who is hurrying to enter the palace for the ongoing celebration.

She is coming running and her cloak is billowing with air; the soap bubbles fly lightly and fluctuate in the air before vanishing, but only one is captured by a red ribbon as if it were a key, a passepartout to open the magical and mysterious place of memories and nostalgia.

Molte sue opere si trovano presso ambienti pubblici e privati, in Italia e all’estero.

In continua evoluzione

Espone già dagli anni '80 in collettive e ben presto in personali presso importanti Gallerie d'Arte.

..........

The artistic path of Maria Grazia Minto is the mirror in which the artistic talent and creative flair of a thought or dream is reflected which then turns into action.
Venetian of origin, then Padua
Memories:
“Since I was a child I was attracted by objects that I found at home and which stimulated my imagination: the box of buttons where I immersed my hands in a thousand shapes and colours, the playing cards which I then produced in the drawing book but also became a game with my brothers, the basket of beautiful fabrics left over from my mother, the box of thread and safety pins; everything could become something else or could be designed with new shapes. These objects will return in my latest pictorial thread among my characters, as if they were a return or a key to connecting the phases of life.
The art education teacher Glauco Benito Tiozzo noticed this predisposition in her and made her participate in the "INA TOURING International Student Art Competition for the painting section which was held in Florence.
She wins the First Prize for the student category and is awarded inside the elegant Palazzo Strozzi in Florence.
“My memories as a young girl”:
(I remember a very long dark wooden table, occupied by all the authorities, I think about fifteen people, perhaps even more teachers and art critics, whose authorities we shook hands and thanked.
Me and dad who accompanied me; I was so shy and embarrassed that I couldn't even understand the importance of this thing and I wanted to be transparent and disappear).
Hence, at the suggestion of the teacher Tiozzo and the Principal of the Institute, she enrolled in the Artistic High School of Padua where she obtained the Artistic High School diploma in 1977.
After the artistic maturity where she obtained the qualification of Art Teacher, she immediately began her experimentation with the many pictorial languages. She studies, experiments and creates complex techniques such as fresco, trompe l'oeil and painting on fabric. She works for interior designers, interior studios and private individuals to create unique and exclusive pieces. Many of her works are found in public and private environments, in Italy and abroad.
She immediately began to exhibit in group shows, competitions and personal exhibitions in various Venetian locations. She soon began collaborating with interior designers and interior design studios. Her art becomes her work and her artistic investigation goes into various tracks of pictorial technical research, from painting on fabric, to painting on glass, to murals and creates unique pieces on commission.
At the same time she studies and deepens the Fresco technique, which leads her to find a true and pleasant expression in that delicate mystery of color, which the colored powders and lime transmit and she remains enraptured by it; This fresco technique will always be used by you in your latest pictorial genre. At the same time she studied and mastered the Trompe l'Oeil technique, much in demand in those years between the 80s and 90s; always on commission she creates splendid architecture and large illusory scenarios for public and private environments.
Continuously evolving
She defines the most recent trend on which she is working: “My magical world”. She feels the urgency to express herself more through this new trend which leads her to investigate the places of the human spirit and soul. On tiptoe the artist offers us these elegant and enigmatic figures of his and places around here and there as if by chance playing cards, keys, books, butterflies, soap bubbles in unusual game balances and nostalgic atmospheres... symbols, messages to decrypt and translate.
It is a journey towards visions of a fairytale world; these creatures of innate elegance speak, richly dressed, soft and impalpable almost without physical weight, sometimes presented on top of a house of cards without causing it to collapse; but there is not only painting in these works but lively and participatory dialogue, sweet or bold colors and always compared to a message, to an encouragement, to a search for freedom.
His emblematic and serene characters are vectors of a symbolist lyric that is constantly repeated in every condition to be read by everyone. In her extemporaneous visions, the fairytale world connects dream and reality to the opposite extremes of imagination and materialism. everything translates into a poetic reaction that reduces the tension and gently transfigures its influences into positive results.
She loves to lower and place her creatures among hers, symbols such as buttons, safety pins, soap bubbles, playing cards, messages to decrypt and translate, all in a riot of colours.
You have been exhibiting since the 1980s in group shows and soon in solo exhibitions at important art galleries.
Here then she presents her creatures to the public: delicate girls, with a gaze suspended and surprised in a spiritual dimension. Elegant, almost immobile creatures, waiting and waiting

CRITICAL PRESENTATIONS – SUMMARIES

Barefoot in the enchanted garden.

The poetic world of Maria Grazia Minto is based on symbolic contents, from dreamlike accents and internal motivations that generate allegories, the decipherment of which is left to our personal taste and discretion, matching suggestions and clues whose history we cannot clearly discover , rather than learning to decipher them like a puzzle, in order to gain knowledge.

“I love to define Maria Grazia Minto's painting as art in a tuxedo, just to underline the elegance and style of the characters, subjects speaking of an open and contagious philosophy of thought. The emotional sensations and suggestions of the mind dictated by experienced episodes often become a game of readings of facts, such as premonitions or clarifications: so that cards, chess, tarot cards, dice and any other game, in its fun emblems most suited to the fuel the imagination, they can be a very valid interpretative almanac for predicting the future and interpreting reality".

A world of fairies, girls, dice, playing cards, buttons, butterflies, hats, clothes, all placed in a setting between reality and fantasy, which almost reminds us of the fantasy world of "Alice in Wonderland" or that part of ourselves who has always remained a child and dreamer soul.

                                                                                                                    Dr. Fiorenzo Rizzetto

2018 - Historical, Artistic and Literary Essay: "300 Artists to love, dream and rediscover Venice"

________________________________________

We capture the magic and suggestion that Maria Grazia Minto's girls are able to spread. They are splendidly autonomous subjects and protagonists, pleasantly removed from any gravitational field and inserted in spaces that cannot only be defined as dreamy, it would be limiting for the depth and poetics that can be perceived in her paintings. These are settings capable of evoking another world that appears to us as a metaphysical translation of an existence destined for eternity.

The metallic precision, the crystalline rendering of the details, the vivid colors and the strong plasticism are charged to go beyond reality.

Within all this we can read the symbolic elements that the artist delicately places here and there and presents us with playing cards, clocks, butterflies, buttons, soap bubbles; iconographic attributes that symbolize the "Pure Beauty" brought as a gift by the magical creatures of Maria Grazia Minto.

Maria Grazia Minto is present at the "Studio Arte Moses Gallery in Rovigo" with a review of works with a fantastic and exuberant flavor in the chromatic choice: "the fairies of Maria Grazia Minto": creatures that appropriate the identity of the Author, promoting unequal stimuli in daily work to encourage joyful alibis. To achieve the goal, playing cards are also needed to reveal the mysteries: modest fantasies. The destination is undoubtedly the safe haven of childhood. The recipes of affection are in the open book, left on purpose on the floor, in a room with immeasurable perspectives; from the inside to landscape scenarios to breathe an air of infinity limited by no walls.

....by Maria Grazia Minto we perceive the desire to represent the real world through symbols and allegories, with a painting of rare beauty, structural and chromatic at the same time; the dreamlike flavor of fantastic creatures.

…..“The fairies who return among us” by Maria Grazia Minto do not belong to classical mythology, but are to be identified mainly with the Fairies of Shakespearean memory. Usually these beings wander around woods and natural places, little accustomed to meeting man, but the painter makes portraits of them, with the attitude of someone who is warning about the risks of destroying the natural environment. In these works by Minto, unlike the light playfulness of the Victorian Fairy Art of Richard Dadd, Kate Greenaway or Cicely Mary Barker, the painting has a concrete physicality, the play of cards and matter gives voice to their message, the colors are sonorous and harmonious, the backdrops sometimes melancholy.

….. the light embroidery of an ancient lace, the sweet sourness of a pomegranate, everything flows into a sweet suspended atmosphere, as in a distant memory that congeals in the cadenced rhythm of the brushstroke. Maria Grazia Minto lays out the various perspective modules, inserting the still life into the whole; obviously the visual perception is immersed in the enchantment of colors in the measured synthesis of the figurative definition. The harmonious geometries of reality are revealed in their poetic essence.

..… so Maria Grazia Minto's art, by its essence, shuns the vulgar concept of the static nature of the work (from "temple of the muses", so to speak) to refer instead to the semantic root of the word, which better refers going and joining.

This is how her interventions on everyday life were born, in which the use of the object simultaneously brings messages, allusions and dialogue with the senses and in depth.

Here are frescoes, oils on canvas, painted fabrics and walls painted with stories of flowers, nature, landscapes, everything is always brought to life by the creative imagination and the delicate mystery of colour, to tell those possible fragments of truth that the routine of living day after day day hides us.

Nature is the pretext to restore the profile of an environment, of a glimpse, to highlight them better and reshape the images into poetic equivalents. The colors, even applied in short spatula strokes, seem to fall harmoniously onto the canvas with tender and light pulsations, giving life and fixing lights and silences, spaces and elements; the semblances and meditations of the contents that do not appear on the surface and which constitute the traces of visual knowledge.
